Knockhill Round 5 Results and Videos Online

This was a pretty mixed weekend for me with a complete disaster in the first race but a reasonably good damage limitation result in the second.

In the wet I qualified on pole by three tenths with Scott Fraser down in 5th so I had a good chance to reduce the 17 point championship lead he had. Unfortunately Graham Whitehill in second place jumped the start and I started to go aswell before I realised my mistake and hit the brakes. But the officials decided although Graham moved two car lengths and I moved only 2ft we both deserved 10 sec penalties.

So the race was started with Graham out in front with no hope of beating him into the first corner as he was already ahead on the track. Peter Cruickshank then tried to go round the outside of me into the chicane on lap 3 and as he tried to force his way in he clipped the front of my car and spun himself out of the race.

He initally lodged a protest and the Clerk of the Course excluded me for causing an avoidable incident but I appealed against the decision and the Stewards decided in my favour that it was just a racing incident and I was reinstated to the race results but with my 10 second penalty I was classified 7th instead of the 2nd I actually finished on the road but with Scott Fraser finishing 3rd on the road he inherited the win so increased his points advantage over me.

I then had to start 7th in the second race and worked my way up to 3rd place helped by Dave Colville and Willie Davidson almost throwing themselves off the road on the 1st and last lap respectively. On the first lap Scott Fraser's rear axle broke putting him out of the race and meaning I had a chance to make up for the first race by closing the points gap again.

Again my engine near the end of the race was suffering from the same top end power loss it had at Oulton Park so I was struggling to keep up with the leading bunch for the last 2 or 3 laps but I managed to set fastest lap early on in the race and actually reduced Scott Fraser's Championship lead from 17 to 15 points.
